Monthly Favorites | August, 2020
For the month of, August my favorites have ranged from various old favorites like MAC lipsticks to the TV show Glee — it has been a bit of a throwback month.
Fashion
Steve Madden Feather Flat in Taupe Snake Print Faux Leather // DSW // I purchased these shoes for a steal right at the end of July, with my birthday coupon and another coupon code they had online. I have been wanting to dapple with the snake print trend for about two years now, so I’m happy to have found the perfect piece to play around with the trend. These shoes aren’t the most comfortable, but they are perfect for running errands and church.
LOFT Edwardian Style Blouse // Simply Chic // I have loved styling vintage-inspired pieces with modern, for years now. So when I stumbled across this blouse in the clearance rack at Simply Chic, I knew it had to come home with me. This month I’ve had fun styling it with high-waisted 90s denim shorts, and chunky tennis shoes. [If you would like to own this blouse, and are a size small I found it on Poshmark for y’all.] I’m excited to pair the blouse with high-waisted jeans and chunky cardigans this fall though.
Beauty
MAC Cosmetics Lustre Lipstick [Syrup | Patisserie] // Ulta Beauty & TJ MAXX // I used to wear MAC lipsticks a lot more often, a few years ago, so when National Lipstick rolled around last month and they were on sale at Ulta, it reminded me again how much I love their lipsticks. During the sale, I picked up both Syrup & Patisserie — classic shades that work well for my skin tone.
NARS Cosmetics Afterglow Overlust Cheek Palette // Ulta Beauty // This is such a great everyday blush and highlighter palette. I love the nude peach blush shade in this palette, it is perfect for summer makeup looks. Pairing bronzer with a peach blush has become a go-to look for me! The highlighters aren’t too sparkly and look more natural on the skin — something I look for in a highlighter.
Kristin Ess Volumizing Mousse // Target // My hair has become naturally more curly the past few months, and like three weeks ago it has become like full-on curly. It’s crazy. With that, I've been digging around my hair product stash trying to find products that help enhance my natural curls, and not make them too heavy. When my hair was more wavy/straight, I could never figure out how to use hair mousse, so this went to the back of the drawer. lol. Now with my curly hair, I have been using it to help hold my curls longer. It doesn’t weigh down my hair, makes it feel like it is full of product, and helps my hair look nicer longer.
Anastasia of Beverly Hills Lip Stain in Dusty Rose // Sephora // This product has a slight learning curve with learning how to apply it, but once you master it the results are worth it! The color also lasts underneath my mask — a bonus these days.
Entertainment
Hart of Dixie [2011 - 2015] // NETFLIX // I watched this show back when it first aired on TV, and recently I’ve been running out of shows to watch that are lighthearted. So I’ve been just been rewatching shows that I’ve already seen. This time around when watching the show I’m team Wade, last time I was team, George. Ah, younger me didn’t fully appreciate this show and the characters. The show also has some amazing outfits and features some great music and bands.
Glee [2009 - 2015] // NETFLIX // Back when this show first aired, I fully dressed as a mix of Rachel Berry and Emma Pillsbury — so it has been fun getting outfit flashbacks! I also had some of the clothes that a couple of characters wore, and some of their pieces were on my fashion wish list.
YUMMY MUMMIES [2017 - ] // NETFLIX // I randomly stumbled across this show one night, and I was instantly hooked. It is strangely addicting, and I can’t stop watching it. Yes, I occasionally do love watching a good reality tv show. I guess you can say, it is one of my guilty pleasures.
