Ramblings #4 | LA Trip

Ramblings #4 | LA Trip

hello, y’all! I recently came back from visiting LA for a weekend trip with my family [who were there for the week]. It was great to get away for the weekend outside of Indy, and to visit sites that I’ve always wanted to visit in LA.

I also flew for the first time solo when going out to LA. It was actually kinda fun to flow solo, and I’m not usually the kind of person to do things by myself. So that was fun to discover about myself.

Places I Visited in LA

  • Griffith Observatory — Definitely a hot spot in LA, especially with being featured in films like: LA LA Land and A Rebel Without A Cause. The grounds are beautiful, the views of the city are breathtaking, and the planetarium show was fun to do.

  • Dodger Stadium — This was a lot of fun!! I just love the atmosphere at Dodger Stadium. Everyone is so behind their team, there is some good local stadium food [always a plus], and the sunsets are amazing!

  • Getty Villa — It was fun to explore this Roman-like Villa and see the ancient artifacts that were in the museum area. Just make sure you reserve your tickets online, before showing up.

  • Point Dume — My favorite trail from the whole weekend. It was along the coast, you got to climb some of the cliffs overlooking the ocean. It was breathtaking, and had storybook vibes.

  • Los Liones Canyon Trail — This was a toughie for me, who personally doesn’t work out much. But the views were pretty, and it was easy coming down the trail.

  • Will Rogers State Beach — A not too busy beach that is perfect for chilling at midday on the weekend. Also the beach was clean, and had a parking lot.

  • Palisades Village — The shopping center for the area we stayed in. They have free parking garages, super cute shops, a great grocery store that is similar to a Whole Foods, and several ice-cream shops.

  • Venice Beach — We briefly walked the pier here on our way to LAX, and the area gave me major Graceland vibes [USA TV show with Aaron Tveit].

  • Sidecar Doughnuts — The best doughnuts ever!! Definitely a huge fan, I wish we had them in Indiana. They also have Gluten-Free and Vegan doughnuts.

  • Bluestone Lane — One of my favorite coffee shops for a Chai Latte, it is also one of the very few places I don’ mind having a dirty chai latte.

  • Cava — Build-your-own Mediterranean bowls, salads, or pita’s. I was too sure about the place at first, but I ended up loving this place. I kinda wish they were in the Midwest too. I miss this place.

  • McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams — One of the things I loved about this ice-cream place was that with a single scoop, you get two flavors! Yes, please.

  • In-n-Out Burger — I had my first In-n-Out on this trip, and it was just alright for what it is. I wouldn’t go out of my way for it, I still prefer Shake Shack. The Animal Fries were good, you just need to eat them while they are hot.

  • Lemonade — I ended up not getting any of their food this trip, but I made sure to get one of their lemonades. I got the Frozade RAZZLEBERRY lemonade and it was really good — definitely for the fans of raspberries.

  • Zara — I didn’t do a lot of shopping this trip, but I did buy a distressed denim skirt on clearance for $15!
